Samsung’s latest Android update, One UI 6.1, initially introduced with the Galaxy S24 series, is now set to expand its reach to additional Galaxy devices. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect.
Scheduled to commence in “late March,” Samsung has confirmed the rollout of One UI 6.1 for select Galaxy devices released in 2023. Alongside the update, these devices will also gain access to Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite, enhancing their functionality and user experience.
The devices slated to receive the update next month include:
- Galaxy S23
- Galaxy S23+
- Galaxy S23 Ultra
- Galaxy S23 FE
- Galaxy Z Fold 5
- Galaxy Z Flip 5
- Galaxy Tab S9
- Galaxy Tab S9+
- Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra
Notably, these devices will gain access to the full suite of Galaxy AI features. Among the highlights, users can expect Circle to Search, Live Translate for phone calls, and Interpreter for in-person conversations. Additionally, Samsung Keyboard will introduce Chat Assist with translation, tone, and grammar functions, while Samsung Notes will incorporate Note Assist, offering summaries, translations, and more.
Furthermore, the Gallery app will introduce Generative Edit using generative AI for advanced photo edits, alongside Edit Suggestions and Instant Slow-Mo support. AI wallpapers will also be available to enhance the device’s aesthetics.
Samsung Internet will introduce “Browsing Assist” for summarizing news articles, a feature that complements the comprehensive Galaxy AI suite.
While Samsung has announced a “late March” rollout timeframe, specific dates are yet to be revealed. It’s anticipated that the updates will coincide with each device’s respective March 2024 security patch, offering users an enhanced and enriched digital experience.
