Insomniac Games has recently been involved in one of the most significant security breaches in the gaming industry. Not only did confidential information and future plans leak, including the roadmap for their upcoming superhero games, but even unfinished builds of their latest project, Wolverine, were exposed.
This incident is rumored to be a factor in Insomniac Games’ decision to forgo any expansion packs for Spider-Man 2, despite earlier speculation about a focus on the character Venom. Now, the studio is undergoing a significant change in its development team.
Brian Horton, who served as the Creative Director for Marvel’s Wolverine, is leaving Insomniac Games. He has now joined Xbox, where he will take on the role of Creative Director for the Perfect Dark Reboot, which recently showcased its initial gameplay.
Marcus Smith, who previously held the position of Creative Director for Marvel’s Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, will be stepping in to replace Horton. This transition is said to be a result of shifts in creative direction for Marvel’s Wolverine, although specific details regarding these changes remain unclear.
As for Sony, they have yet to announce a confirmed release date for Marvel’s Wolverine, which has been speculated to launch sometime in 2025 or 2026. Meanwhile, Xbox’s latest project, the Perfect Dark Reboot developed by The Initiative, also does not have a set release date at this time. Will Horton’s move ensure the quality of Perfect Dark? Only time will tell.
