Earlier this month, Samsung introduced the much-anticipated January 2024 security update, addressing vulnerabilities across its smartphone lineup, including the Galaxy S22 series. Surprisingly, the South Korean tech giant has now rolled out an additional software update for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra, deviating from its usual monthly update pattern.
The latest Galaxy S22 update, identified by firmware version S90xBXXU7DXA6 and currently available in Europe, boasts a modest download size of approximately 250MB. While the official changelog highlights enhancements to camera performance, specific details regarding the improved camera aspects remain undisclosed. The update also encompasses customary bug fixes and reliability improvements. Notably, the January 2024 security patch, addressing around 75 security vulnerabilities, was integrated into the prior software release for the Galaxy S22 series.
For Galaxy S22 series users residing in Europe, the update awaits your exploration. Simply navigate to Settings » Software update and initiate the Download and install process. Alternatively, tech enthusiasts can manually flash the new firmware file, accessible on our firmware database, using a Windows-equipped computer and the Odin tool. As always, it is advisable to perform a comprehensive backup of crucial data before proceeding.
Launched two years ago with Android 12, the Galaxy S22 series has undergone significant software updates, including the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 in late 2022 and the more recent Android 14-based One UI 6.0 a couple of months ago. As Samsung continues its commitment to user experience, the Galaxy S22 series is slated to receive two additional Android OS updates in the coming years.
