Recently leaked CAD-based renders provide an in-depth look at Google’s upcoming Pixel Fold 2, unveiling its larger displays, refined inner bezels, and ultra-thin profile.
Shared by SmartPrix, these renders confirm previous leaks and offer fresh insights into the device’s design evolution. Notably, the Pixel Fold 2 boasts a taller, rounded outer display and a radical departure in the camera module design, distinguishing itself from past Pixel iterations.
One significant enhancement is the device’s expanded size, surpassing its predecessor, the original Pixel Fold. According to @OnLeaks, the inner display will span 7.9 inches (8.1 inches with corners), a notable increase from the 7.6-inch screen of the first-generation Pixel Fold. Moreover, the inner panel features a sleek, uniform bezel, slightly thicker than competitors’ foldables but markedly slimmer than its predecessor. The inner selfie camera is rumored to be housed under the display, akin to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold lineup.
Externally, the Pixel Fold 2’s outer display receives a significant upgrade, transitioning from a 5.8-inch screen to a taller and larger 6.4-inch display (6.6-inch with corners).
When folded, the Pixel Fold 2 measures 155.2 x 77.1 x 10.54mm, larger than its predecessor but notably thinner, rivaling the slim profile of the Honor Magic V2, currently the thinnest foldable device at 9.9mm.
The redesigned camera module, split into two sections, deviates from the width of the device while retaining three cameras, accompanied by a flash and microphone.
Additionally, the updated hinge design bears resemblance to the OnePlus Open, featuring a rounded display merging with the hinge’s sharper corner, mirroring similar display sizes and aspect ratios.
Anticipated for a later release this year, the Pixel Fold 2 is poised to debut with Google’s upgraded Tensor G4 processor, promising enhanced performance and functionality.
