After much speculation, Samsung has officially introduced the Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition, which is set to be exclusively available in South Korea and potentially China. Compared to the standard version released in July, this foldable device features various enhancements, particularly in design and camera capabilities.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition boasts a slightly larger display, featuring an 8-inch internal foldable screen and a 6.5-inch external display, with aspect ratios of 21:9 and 20:18, respectively. In contrast, the regular model comes with a 7.6-inch internal display and a 6.3-inch external screen.
This Special Edition variant offers improved ergonomics as well. Samsung claims that the device is 1.5 mm thinner and 3 grams lighter than its regular counterpart. The Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition measures 10.6 mm thick when folded and 4.9 mm when opened, weighing in at 236 grams.
Another notable upgrade is found in the camera department. The Special Edition is equipped with a 200MP wide-angle main camera (up from 50MP) that includes Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), making it the best camera ever seen on a Samsung foldable phone. Other camera specifications remain unchanged, featuring a 12MP ultra-wide, 10MP telephoto, and a 4MP under-display selfie camera.
Connectivity differences are also present. While the regular model supports Wi-Fi 6e, the Special Edition is upgraded to support the latest Wi-Fi 7 technology. The remaining specifications are identical, including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a 4,400mAh battery with 25W fast charging and 15W wireless charging, as well as the inclusion of Galaxy AI and a commitment to seven years of OS updates.
It’s important to note that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition is currently only available in South Korea and is expected to launch in China under the name Galaxy W25. The device is offered in a single configuration of 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, priced at KRW 2.7 million, which is approximately IDR 31 million.
