Samsung unveiled its first smartphones with Galaxy AI—Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra—last month, receiving an excellent response. But the South Korean firm isn’t stopping there. It’s announced plans to extend Galaxy AI features to more device categories, including wearables.
AI features are coming to Galaxy wearables TM Roh, Samsung MX CEO and President, revealed in an editorial that the company aims to bring Galaxy AI features to its future wearable devices. The goal is to utilize AI to enhance digital health and usher in a new era of expanded, intelligent health experiences. Collaborating with industry-leading AI partners, Samsung intends to integrate improvements across all its products in the future.
Though details about these upcoming features remain scarce, they’re expected to debut with devices like the anticipated Galaxy Ring and the Galaxy Watch 7 series, likely unveiled in the second half of this year. These wearables could launch alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 at the next Galaxy Unpacked event in Q3 2024.
Samsung has continually enhanced fitness and health tracking features in its Galaxy Watches, particularly with the Galaxy Watch 4’s switch to Wear OS, which brought numerous apps and integrations. With AI, users can expect quicker insights from the data collected by Galaxy Watches, potentially revolutionizing health monitoring.
TM Roh emphasized that AI is set to revolutionize not just Samsung smartphones but the entire industry. While Samsung has many concepts and ideas in store, challenges such as privacy, security, and intellectual property rights must be addressed. The company remains committed to enhancing Galaxy devices’ privacy and security while advancing AI capabilities.
